The Salsa Woodchipper is in a class of it's own. Off-roading dropbars? It may sound like an oxymoron but we see it as an innovation. The folks who designed the Woodchipper knew that during long ride it''s nice to change up your hand positions. They''re designed to work with road brake levers and even integrated shifter. Bar ends will also work great with these handlebars. The long, bent design helps to provide stability wether your on the road or off the beaten path.

So far I love this bar it is fantastic if you like riding a mountain bike with drop bars. Ten times better than a standard drop bar for mountain biking. I can't count the times I've taken a jump in the drops only to have my wrists bang into the top of the bar. This will not happen with the wood chipper bars. You can tuck in the drops on a bumpy down hill with no problem and not smack your wrists on the jumps. I would have given these bars a 5 had I not had a pair of soma mountain drops on my cross bike. I'm not saying the soma bars are better it's just what I had become accustomed to and they have a different drop geometry so for now the woodchipper bars feel a bit off but still feel better than normal drops ten fold.
