asked by: Kro...@....com Are there differences between the Cowbell 2 and 3? Is one more suited for STI shifters?
A.
anwered by: deorext The Cowbell 3 is 6061 aluminum alloy and the Cowbell 2 is 7050 aluminum alloy. The 2 is lighter, because 7050 has a higher yield strengh and can thus be made with thinner walls. With thinner walls, the bar can be butted and manipulated to offer more vibration dampening without affecting overall stiffness. 6061 is usually thicker with less butting an manipulation thus tends to have a harsher ride quality. This is something often overlooked in the world of aluminum bike components, and many pros run higher performance aluminum bars for security amd ride quality.

anwered by: mwirth The Salsa Cowbell 2 uses a different aluminum, though both are perfectly fine for use with STI shifters. Thanks!

asked by: a guest How do you determine the correct size to order?
A.
anwered by: canteau The handlebar width is based on your body size and riding style.
You can start with a bar that closely matches your shoulder to shoulder measurement and go from there.
Narrower bars will provide quicker turning while wider bars will provide more stability.
If you are experiencing any time of pain or numbness it is best to work with an experienced fitter to find the size and position that works for your body and needs.
