If you're looking for a ring that helps on punchy singletrack and hills, give one of these elliptical chainrings a try. Its proprietary design has an ovality of 10% and a timing of 112 degrees after top dead center which provide the benefits of an oval ring without the traditional downsides of oval rings.
The simplest way to explain the way these rings feel is having 2 teeth less in the weak part of your pedal stroke and 2 teeth more where you have the most power

asked by: a guest Will this work with a race face turbine crank set
A.
anwered by: canteau The Wolf Tooth Elliptical chainring will work with a Race Face crank using the 104mm BCD spider. Wolf Tooth also makes a lighter Cinch compatible direct mount chainring if your version of the Race Face Turbine crank is Cinch compatible.

asked by: a guest Can you help me confirm that this is the correct ring for my Shimano M442 Crankset?
A.
anwered by: canteau Shimano lists the M442 cranks as having a 104mm BCD, which will allow the chainring bolt holes to line up. Shimano cranks tend to not use a standard spider shape and may require modification to the chainring in order to get it to sit flush against the crank arm.
