Part myth, part speedboat ploughing your favorite swampy waters, part 29plus mountain bike whose devious grin will blast you confidently over the wildest patches of riding holes near and far. The Krampus is Surly's wager that you''ll never have more fun on another mountain bike.

The Krampus frameset is built to be as nimble and speed-driven as possible while maintaing clearance for the meaty tires it''s meant to support, the three inch wide Knards. While the frame''s chainstays are as short as possible and spread wide, they fit the Knards pretty darn snugly -- you can expect to run either a 1x or 2x drivetrain here, as a triple crankset will not clear those tires. Horizontal dropouts leave your options open-ended for gearing -- choose to go single or multi-speed. As for the front end, the Krampus sports an extra tall fork, again to work in that 29plus tire. To tell it from Surly''s mouth, the Krampus is short in the rear and long in the top tube; think short stems and wide handlebars.
