Whether it's a World Cup DH race, cross country tour or the local trail on a Thursday night, the Stan''s Flow Rim has evolved through the years to match the needs of riders that like a little air between them and the trail. The Flow MK3 Rim now has a 29mm internal width, now fitting tires up to 2.8" at a weight that is 39g lighter than the previous version.
The Flow MK3 rim uses a new WideRight design with an internal width of 29mm. The WideRight design gives a larger air volume without distorting the shape of the tire''s thread pattern or sidewall so that the side knobs are in the proper position for traction while cornering. Proper tire profile on the rim also means the sidewall can do its job at protecting the rim by absorbing impacts and reducing the chances of a pinch flat.
Stan''s rims are known to be some of the easiest to set up tubeless thanks to their BST (Bead Socket Technology) bead and internal rim profile. The Flow MK3 rim can be setup tubeless using 30mmStan''s Tape, Stan''s Valves and No Tubes Sealant.
Flow MK3 rims have a max rider weight of 250lbs and a max PSI of 26 with a 2.8" tire.

I purchased the flow mk3 hoops to replace the rapid 25 hoops on my rigid single speed. I have been riding technical rocky terrain and wanted more traction and a little softer ride. The ERD is almost the same as the rapid 25 so changing hoops was very easy. I was able to reuse the spokes and nipples. With the larger 29mm internal width, I am running a 29x2.6 in the front and a 29x2.35 in the back. The larger volume front tire took some of the harsh ride away and the back opened up the 2.35 to give better traction and let the sidewall of the tire flex a little more. I have even ran a 29x2.25 nobby nic on the rear with no issue.
The flow mk 3 did exactly what I was looking for and HOW ABOUT THAT PRICE! $100 a hoop every where else, I looked!
Summed up: I wanted to run higher volume tires but still wanted to swap back to 29x2.35 and the flow mk3 let me do exactly that.
Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Bought the MK3 Flow rims to re-build my wheels after a failed attempt at tubeless using a set of DT Swiss M442 rims. Decided I wanted something that was built with tubeless in mind. Also wanted something wider internal width while maintaining the same weight. These fit the bill perfectly. Wheels weigh basically the same as before once I laced them up. Using some Stans 30mm rim tape and sealant, I was able to get my TLR tires to seat and inflate very easily. Have held pressure without issue since. Took them out for some trail rides over the last 2 weeks and have been very impressed with the stiffness of the rim. The 30mm internal width allowed my tires to sit a bit wider, giving me a better overall footprint and grip (I run 2.4 front and 2.3 rear on my 29er).
