Since it was released in late 2010, the
Salsa Mukluk opened the doors to adventures that normal bikes wouldn't dream of, but with these adventures comes the need to carry gear, lots of gear. With the wider 170mm rear end and 4" tires normal racks simply didn''t fit unless you were a skilled tube bender and master of all words not permitted on public air waves. The other option was to wait 3-6 months for custom racks to be made along with the costs associated with having something custom made.
Now
Salsa has a solution that will work with both the Alternator Mukluks and the
2011/2012 Mukluks with braze-ons above the rear dropouts. The Alternator Wide Rack may also fit other non-
Salsa fat bikes, but you will need to make sure that there is at minimum of 320mm clearance between the lower drop out and the bottom of the rack deck to avoid tire contact. If the frame you are using doesn''t have upper rack mounts, you will need to use a
Salsa Rack Lock to mount the upper struts.
- 15kg (33lbs) recommended load
- Tubular aluminum construction
- Includes extra long struts in both straight and bent versions for easier fitting on a wide range of sizes
- The top deck of the rack measures 135 x 325mm and is cupped to fit rounded items such as a dry bag or sleeping gear.
- The bottom of the rack has large hook stops to keep your panniers where they need to be and not on the trail.
- 765g
