To make the most of your new bike right away, be sure to select a pair of pedals when checking out and we will include them with the build!The Salsa Fargo Ti was the frame of choice for the 2012 record setting attempt at the
Tour Divide by Jay Petervary. The steel framed bike uses the same race winning geometry but in a slightly heavier, more affordable material.
Salsa's motto "Adventure by Bike" can be summed up with the Fargo. At first glance the Fargo appears to be a bit of an odd duckling but after you get to know it the Fargo might just be the perfect bike for you.
The Fargo is a 29er touring bike, so it is part mountain bike and part road bike. 29er wheels are 700c just like a road bike so for longer pavement based rides the wheels can happily accept a traditional touring tire with no issues, but unlike a traditional touring bike the Fargo can be mounted with larger 29er tires to head down the past less traveled.
The Salsa custom dropouts mount the disc brake inboard making access to the double braze-ons easy. The dropout also has a flatter overall profile to help racks fit more securely.
For the Fargo, Salsa didn''t just add an off the shelf 29er fork. They custom designed a fork that is made of the same Kung Fu CroMo that the rest of the bike is made of with forward facing stainless steel dropouts to make changing the wheel with racks and fenders on easier. Mid-blade braze-ons are threaded on both sides so that it can be used with low riders such as Salsa''s Down Under Rack. The back of the fork also has braze-ons that will accept Salsa''s Anything Cages or standard water bottle cages, perfect for those riders that are going to use a frame bag such as those offered by Relevate Designs.
The Fargo 3 features;
- Shimano Deore Drivetrain
- Avid BB7 Disc Brakes
- Sun Inferno Rims
- Salsa Pro Moto 3 Cockpit
