Most headset wrenches are too thin to use on the top locknut of headsets, particularly aluminum locknuts which can be marred and rounded off very easily. The HW-2 Professional Headset Locknut Wrench is the answer. It has a thick, semi-box opening and a substantial, extra long handle for a firm and precise grip on most 8 point 32mm and 36mm locknuts. Also fits the fitting on the BBT-8 bottom bracket tool. Made of investment cast tool steel.

I bought this when I was having trouble with two thin wrenches on the nuts of a Shimano 600 arabesque group slipping off. This wrench grabs most of the way around the nut and is much more solid and has a better feel than a thin wrench. I also think the thin wrenches aren't as good as transmitting torque as a thicker jawed wrench, so this wrench helps in that area also.
