Mounted Ardents 29x2.4 on my 2014 Specialized Crave hardtail...front and back...on the stock [Stout] wheels.
Was looking for a tire with an aggressive tread that leaned more to the XC side of things rather than the DH side. And the Ardent was exactly what I was looking for.
Even with the 2.4 wide tire there is plenty of tire clearance between the tire and stays.
Acceleration is a bit less snappy as the stock Specialized tires...but the traction and stability over chatter greatly out weighs this.
Also...I have not had an issue with the front end washing out or vagueness as mentioned in some other reviews of the Ardent. This could be due to running a 2.4 and possible improvement in the tread design. IDK. Additionally I know this is not the same tire as the 29x2.5 DHF that I run on my Specialized Enduro...and might not be pushing it as hard in the corners.
