I have used the Avid BB 7 brakes for a few years. This is an updated unit with some improvements in design and function. I have been very pleased with the performance of the old units, but the new ones have additional changes to make even better. Everyone I know who uses these are pleased. Some with only 160mm disc on front claim they wore pads out quickly. That would be expected especially on 29ers due to the leverage differences. Suggest at least 185 or 203 (especially for 29) as my old 203 on 26 inch have not worn out pads yet in a few years and gives good balance to the rear 160mm at least on my bike with older XTR brake levers/shifters.
