These rings are designed for Surly OD cranks, but are compatible with other 5-bolt 94 BCD cranks. These rings feature the patent pending Drop-Stop asymmetrical tooth design for the best in wear life, mud clearance, and chain retention.
- Features Wolf Tooth's Drop-Stop tooth design for maximum chain retention
- Drop-Stop chainrings are designed for use with 1x9, 1x10, 1x11 and 1x12 drivetrains
- Compatible with all 10-, 11-, and 12-speed chains, with the exception of Shimano 12-speed chains
- Shimano 12-speed chains require the use of Wolf Tooth''s Shimano 12-speed specific chainrings
- If using a 9-speed drivetrain, use a 10-speed chain, which will provide a tighter fit for better chain retention
- Made from 7075-T6 aluminum for long life
- Use of a clutch-style rear derailleur is recommended

According to Wolf Tooth, you will need to use 16mm long chainring bolts if you are using the Surly OD crankset.

It will work with the XT M8000 drivetrain if you have a crank that has a 5-bolt 94mm BCD crank. The XT M8000 crank uses a 4-bolt 96mm BCD crank and would not be compatible with this chainring.
WolfTooth does make make 96mm chainrings for the Shimano SLX/XT 11-speed groups.
It will work with the XT M8000 drivetrain if you have a crank that has a 5-bolt 94mm BCD crank. The XT M8000 crank uses a 4-bolt 96mm BCD crank and would not be compatible with this chainring.
