Just received these pedals in white and had them installed along with a new crank. They look great and the spikes keep your feet firmly planted in place. I prefer platforms because I enjoy riding more technical trails where the split second it takes to unclip for a bail could cost you dearly. The super sharp spikes will take a little getting used to because I'm used to a not-so sharp pedal that allowed my feet to move around on the platform. The wider platform is wonderful because my older narrower pedals tended to "flip" on me at times.
