The Truvativ American to Euro bottom bracket adapter is a great way to take an aging beauty and give her a face lift. Many older model bikes used the American BB standard including Schwinn roadies and BMX bikes. This will give you a chance to run a more modern system on your bike without having to get a new frame.
Adapts American/Pro BMX frames with a non-threaded 51.3mm (2.02") ID bottom bracket shell to accept English-threaded bottom bracket & crank applications
CNC machined aluminum with 3 steel connecting bolts to prevent independent rotation

asked by: a guest I have a univega ram9dh would this work I have tried everything I can think of you might have to look at a pic of one of these bike frames they are strange frames they have bolt to tighten the bottom bracket in
A.
anwered by: canteau You would need to measure the bottom bracket shell, this adaptor requires an American bottom bracket which has and ID of 51.3mm and no threads.

asked by: a guest Some question/answers are confusing me. My bottom bracket is 68mm wide with an inside diameter of 51.3mm. Your description says..."Adapts American/Pro BMX frames with a non-threaded 51.3mm (2.02") ID bottom bracket shell to accept English-threaded bottom bracket & crank applications...". Again, you state 51.3 ID, inside diameter. Is this correct? Will your adaptor convert my bottom bracket describ
A.
anwered by: canteau This adaptor allows you to use a modern BSA (English) bottom bracket in a frame that was originally designed to be used with an American bottom bracket.

asked by: a guest I have a Schwinn SS Cruiser and the bottom bracket has a I.D of about 50mm and it is approximately length from right to left of the bike is 65mm.
I would like to make the I.D closer to 30mm to suit a 3 piece crank. Will this work for me?
A.
anwered by: canteau Some of the older Schwinn bikes used a non-standard bottom bracket that was slightly smaller than the standard American bottom bracket shell, unfortunately without making some sort of spacers this will not work on those frames.

asked by: a guest How will this work on at 68mm when its for a 51.3mm? I am trying to convert my 51.3mm beach cruiser to a 3 piece euro style crank. I am having trouble getting the correct information and part to do this convertion
A.
anwered by: canteau Yes, the standard American Bottom Bracket is 51.3mm, once these cups are installed they will add the additional 8.35mm of thickness on each side required to move from the width to the 68mm English (Euro) size.

asked by: a guest I have a Firmstrong single speed beach cruiser. Will this work for my bike?
A.
anwered by: canteau Firmstrong does not list their bottom bracket spec on their cruisers, but from the photos it looks like they use an American bottom bracket.
To be sure you will want to remove the stock bottom bracket cups and measure the bottom bracket shell on the frame. It should have a diameter of 51mm (roughly 2.007")

asked by: a guest I ordered the American bb converter to euro.what type of set up would I need to ride.
A.
anwered by: mlewis You'll now need a crankset with english thread bottom bracket for this. These are available from most component companies, just make sure they'll match with the rest of your drivetrain.

asked by: a guest Do you sell the correct bottom bracket to go with this for use on an 80s schwinn road bike
A.
anwered by: canteau The bottom bracket is going to be dependent on which crankset you are going to use. This adapter will allow you to run all modern english threaded bottom brackets.

Product was beyond sub-par.
Overly tight press fit into BB shell. Had to use a vice to insert it. Should be slip fit on at least one side so that bolt holes can be aligned.
Threads too tight. Was wearing away material from adapter trying to thread my Shimano cartridge bottom bracket. Could not thread fully.
Appears that added thickness of powder coat was not accounted for in design. Fit too tight with both BB shell and BB threads. Expected MUCH more from SRAM, from anyone really.
