thanftI had the older style Thomson stem on my other bike and definitely like the design of the X4 better - much easy to clamp and make adjustments.

tatatoothyLike Thomson's posts, the X4 is a product which would be hard to improve upon (at least using materials that exist in the real world). It's beautifully constructed, very light, and extremely strong. It also eliminates the fancy-pants steerer clamping mechanism of the old Thomson Elite stem - I find the X4's more traditional design more reassuring (though I have not used an Elite and don't doubt that it is safe and solid as well).

nicoschermanGreat stem at a great price. My new ride came with a looooong stock stem. There was never a question as to what would replace it. Thomson has been my go to stem for ten years and counting.....great product, understated graphics, jewelry-quality construction. The perfect stem, no doubt about it.

A GuestQuality product from an industry leader. Strong, light, stays put and looks good too.

jjarias2Best Stem out there in my opinion. Also, Tree Fort Bikes ships quickly. Couldn't be happier.

binausicWhen it comes to Thomson stems as well as seatposts, there is no substitute. There are machined to perfection and strong as jail bars as well as affordable. What more can you ask for?

chuckbvilleSame great quality as all Thomson products. You get what you pay for. Well, I got it on sale so I got more than I paid, in this case.

dpk785Got this in 70mm to replace the 100mm stem that came on my bike. It looks great, it's light, and it feels very stiff on the bike. I really couldn't ask for anything more from a stem. These will go on all of my bikes from now on...now I just need the matching seatpost.

A GuestWhat can i say? It's a Thomson.. it's perfect. Slap it on, and you need not worry about a thing. Definitely added bad-ass looks to my bike. Thanks to tree fort bikes for price matching to the cheapest price i could get it.

zach.graham83It is a Thomson product. If you have the cash and like good bike parts that won't look out of place in a year. Buy stuff from Thomson.

dfrossarJust about the most spectacular stem ever made. Made-in-USA machining is second to none. Price is relatively high, but you get what you pay for. My only (tiny) gripe: the stems with rise can be turned over to give you some drop, but the Thompson logo will be upside-down when you do.

zero74Usual high quality you woud expect from thompson. I was running a similiar sunline stem. It always seemed to work its way loose not matter how tight I made made it. Swapped it out with this stem and I no longer had the problem.

A GuestGreat stem, beautiful and strong.
Very quick shipping. Tree Fort just became my source for online purchases.

A GuestThe stem is an engineering marvel. Really nicely executed and looks very nice on the bike. Makes other stems look amateurish in comparison.

A GuestGreat can't complain. Quality Part and Finish and handles darn good. I do wonder what the x2 is like but this part is the best. Thanks Tree Fort hope to be buying from you guys soon!!

Dav...@gm...l.comoutstanding quality, great finish, very strong and lightweight.
After the appearance the thing that stood out the most was clamping face plate, which provides greater clamping surface area than other stems that I have used. I am also impressed with the bolts, they are not cheap crap that rounds out, these get snug fits and will last.
this isn't a negative, just something different that you have to get used to with such a high quality product--take the time when setting it up and make the gaps uniform on the clamp. Also, as instructed, clean the surface of the bar, preferably with alcohol, once you do these two things you will have a secure clamp like no other. hen go ride and hit all the drops and jumps you want--total confidence.

A GuestThomson, I have been sold since the first time . Only thing is I do not like the 3mm bolts .

A GuestExcellent stem for cycling that requires stiffness, durability and minimal weight cost. Price is competitive for the value. If you always use a torque wrench I would recommend changing to 4mm bolts.

dfrossarThis thing is a monster. You can put it on any bike (that takes this type of stem), but it is overkill for all but beefy mountain bikes. It looks and works great on my 29er, for instance.

angrd020Received the X4 Elite Stem rather quickly after ordering it, Thanks TFB! Upon inspection, this stem stood out as a stout yet precision machined instrument. An excellent experience all around.
