The standard Pugsley was created as a go anywhere, all-terrain bike. The large volume tires run at low pressures gives traction and floatation unlike a standard mountain bike, getting you up, over, and through un-rideable terrain such as sand, snow, wet rocks and mud.
For 2014 the Pugsley features a non-offset fork, spaced for a 135mm hub and has clearance for 4.8" tires should you choose to go that big up front. The rear features a 135mm spaced horizontal dropout with a 17.5mm offset, to accommodate geared, single speed, or internally geared hubs.
The Pugsley build spec includes 3.8" Nate tires on 65mm Marge Lite rims, Microshift thumb shifters which work will with winter mitts, and Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes. The drivetrain features a Shimano Deore 9-speed rear derailleur and SLX Direct Mount front, SRAM X5 36/22t fat bike crankset, and Surly/Shimano front and rear hubs.
