This chainring should fit all Shimano outboard bearing mountain cranksets other than the FC-M960 XTR cranks which use a different bolt pattern. You will need to match it to the corresponding M771 48t and 26t chainrings for proper shifting performance.

Yes, it is matched to the 26t lower and 48t upper. It will not work when matched to the 22t lower and 42t upper.

I made this a part of my 22-36-bash setup. On my Shimano XT M-770 crankset, this 36T ring shifts up from granny noticeably better than my old off-brand 36T chainring.
