Like a crazy biker, I did a lot of suffering before I decided to commit to some winter bike shoes. Then, tons of research. These beauties are well worth my time and money to keep my feet warm in the fall and winter in Illinois. I used them for my hourly road commute, as well as cyclocross racing through December (so far) - and they were beautiful! One layer of thick or superthick smartwools has got me down to 30 degrees in comfort. Fine upto 45 degrees so far too. I tried both my regular shoe size (41) and stayed with the 42's for good comfort and performance. The smaller were too cramped with thick socks.
Summed up: Stay riding in comfort in fall and winter with these beauties!
Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Warm down to freezing. Warm to 15F with overshoes, silk socks and wool socks.
Foot warmers will get you to much colder temps.
Fit similar to Bontrager, Specialized, a little looser vs Sidi.
Don't rely on these to keep your feet dry when it rains - may be ok with waterproof pants or gators, but water will run down your tights right into the shoe. Haven't tried in the snow yet.
Awesome shoes. These are very warm, I wear only 1 pair of wool socks under them down to about 25. Below that I put on a second pair and maybe toe warmers. Also super comfortable. I typically use a 42 Mega in Sidi and the 43 fits perfectly. These are also way more comfortable than any Sidi I've tried.
