asked by: a guest Hi I am riding a road bike with DA 7900 Groupset, was thinking of chaining my rear cassette to 11-36t, will M592 match my shifter's pull ratio, my front is compact 50/34t. Thanks

asked by: a guest Does this work with 8 speed cassettes?
A.
anwered by: lin...@....edu Not just "technically", but certainly. 8 speed and 9 speed cassettes are the same width, so there will be no difference in the limit screws. The cable actuation ratio is the same, so there is absolutely no difference in how the derailleur will shift as long as a properly indexed 9 speed shifter (or friction shifter) is used. 5-6-7-8-9 speed chains are alll the same size on the "inside", so there is no issue with the inside of the chain. The only possible point of conflict is that the pulley cages may be too small to fit an 8 speed chain. However, you may run a 9 speed chain on an 8 speed drivetrain and it will work fine 99.9% of the time. The slightly narrower 9 speed chain has a slightly increased chance of falling off of the front chainring, but in practice i

Sure looks better in the pictures it is kinda cheap looking, the cage is stamped form sheet metal.
Seems to shift nice and smooth and tucks in close to the spokes to avoid hitting rocks etc
