The Shimano Deore system has split into two categories, with Deore LX purpose built for Trekking and the newer Shimano Deore SLX shifters built for mid range mountain biking. The M660 shifters run at 10 speeds with smooth and accurate Dyna-Sys shifting. You don't have to choose a trigger or thumb shifter anymore with the dual release lever on bottom. Now you can push or pull your way to perfect shifts. Want to go a little simpler? Just remove the optical heads up gear display for a simpler and lighter package.

You can if you are using a triple crank that has a bash guard for the outer ring. They will not work for the 2x specific cranks.
