What is the difference between this tire and the big Apple and which would you say gives least resistance or the faster tire ?
A.
anwered by: jaxem
The tires, while being the same width, have very different tread patterns and rubber blends. I would think that the big apple would give you less resistance and make you shred a bit faster. Thanks!

We currently do not stock Schwalbe tubes, but we do carry tubes from Q-tubes, Giant and Continental that will work with the Fat Frank.

Q.

will these fit 1.5 in rims
A.
anwered by: mwirth
These are likely far too wide to fit 1.5'' rims. While it might work, the performance of the tire might suffer.

What are the dimensions of this tire inflated? Will they usually fit on a standard MTB?
A.
anwered by: t.young
They're around 2.35in when inflated, depending on the rim they're mounted on. I don't know what you mean by 'standard.'

Will Fat Franks fit 26 x 1 3 /8 department store, non-Schwinn, wheels?
A.
anwered by: mlewis
This tire should fit on the wheel, but I would recommend a wider rim than what probably came stock on your bike for a more secure fit. Also, this is a very wide tire, and frame clearance can be an issue, you'll want to measure your frame to make sure you have enough clearance.

DO you have a preferred rim for these? I am building up a SS with avid disc brakes.
A.
anwered by: jrichard
The question you've asked is to vague. There are plenty of good options available for a variety of different purposes. I prefer a wider rim such as a Sun MTX33, however that might be a bit heavier than you are looking for. I would recommend you give us a call and describe the type of bike and the riding you'll be doing, so that we can provide a recommendation for your needs. We can be reached at 734.484.9999

The Surly Large Marge rims works best with tires over 2.5, preferably in the 3.0 range.

rydr83I have been riding with these tires for several months now and I really enjoy how they look and how they ride. The extra size on them make the bicycle much more comfortable to ride. I have also received the new style with the smaller sidewall writing and it is much better looking than the older version.
