SRAM's Eagle drivetrain group puts the final nail on the coffin that the mountain front derailleur has been laid to rest in. Building upon the success and engineering of the SRAM X1 11-speed groups Eagle takes it to the next level by offering the widest possible gear range in a 1x drivetrain.
The SRAM X01 Eagle rear derailleur is capable of working with the SRAM Eagle 10-50t cassette, but extended range is not the only upgrade over the X01 11-speed rear derailleur. Eagle X01 rear derailleurs include a 14t lower jockey pulley to increase the capacity of the Eagle X01 rear derailleur without greatly lengthening the cage.
Even the Roller Bearing Clutch has been upgraded for the Eagle rear derailleurs. The new SRAM Type-3 Roller Bearing Clutch has a smoother torque curve for a stronger, more consistent, and quieter operation even over rough terrain. To reduce the overall profile of the Eagle rear derailleur, SRAM moved the Cage Lock button behind the pivot knuckle tucking it up and out of the way.
