Thumbies Thumb Shifter Mounts Shimano
The Thumbies from Paul Components are designed to mount traditional Barcon (or bar-end) shifters to the tops of your handlebars. They clamp on to the handlebars where the shifters would normally go. Install your bar-end shifters on to the Thumbies, and you can shift easily from the handlebar, instead of having to reach down to the downtube or handlebar drop.
The Paul Mountain Thumbies have a 22.2mm clamp to fit nearly all mountain bars. These thumbies are designed to be used with Shimano 8, 9, and 10 speed bar end shifters, but will also work with Shimano Downtube shifters. Install them on to the bar to create a retro build, use as an alternative to grip or trigger mountain shifters, or simply to use your bar end shifters in a more practical application.
The Paul Thumbies only include the mounts and mounting hardware. No shifters, cables, or housing is included.
*No longer available as pictured in the additional pictures. The new Paul Thumbies Thumb Shifter Mount are hinged.

i have 25.4mm bars. will these fit?
A.

If the bar grip clamp area is standard 22.2 then yes. If they are straight 25.4 from the clamp to the end then they will not work.

schishamThese shifter mounts ruined my trendy Jones H-bar and my trendy titanium singlespeed frame. Now the bike has gears on it. I will never pick up the ladies with shifters.
Apart from those obvious downsides they worked exactly as expected and solved an inherent "problem" with H-bars.
Now I have to anodize something to get my Mojo back.

DaddyAlmost Perfect solution for a flat bar conversion ... 10spd shimano 105 ... Sits a little high for me .. Just slid them closer to the stem ... Clean looking fast indexed shifting

A GuestThese are easy to install and easy to use. A good option for trekking style handlebars that cannot use bar end shifters.

A GuestThumbies is a misnomer. You can use any part of your hand to shift. Whack it with your palm, pull it with your index finger, etc. Now even easier to install because of the hinge.
