Paul Chain Keeper 31.8, Black
Mounted in place of a front derailleur, the Chain Keeper works with single and 1x multi speed drivetrains using a narrow chain. The chain block surrounds the chain as it meets the chainring and prevents it from skipping off.
- Accommodates a range of chain line measurements and chainring sizes
- Not designed for downhill/freeride/big hit use

EdgarEcksteinI ordered this item on sat 04-16-11. I got it in a day earlier than I was supossed to so that was a pleasant surprise. I got it out of the box and was amazed by the quality of the anodized aluminum construction( I thought it was a plastic item when I ordered it). It took me about 3 mins to intall and run the chain to make sure that no rubbing was happening. I have a 1 chainring, 7 speeds in the back setup and it seems to fit perfect. I test rode it for the first time today, 04-23-11, I did a 10 mile loop from my house and this magnific creation was perfect. I was able to hear the chain rub against the chain keeper a couple of times which was a kind reminder that the piece was there to help me. I figure if it hadn't been there to be rubbed, the chain would have fallen off. It was the most pleasant ride I've had on my single chainring bike going 25.3mph according to my cyclocomputer and knowing the chain would not fall off anymore. I give this product a 10 and hope to accessorize my bike with more paul components stuff like that single break lever that works both breaks at once. That sounds like a good setup to take some more weight of the bike.

chazzekThis fixed the constant chain dropping on my 1x7 commuter bike. Easy to adjust. Make sure you use 9-speed chain so it won't rub.
Also, make sure there's enough clearance between your chainring and the crank bolts -- I have a 130BCD crank with a 38T ring, so the chain just barely clears the bolts. I was only able to get the chain keeper about halfway down the chain side plates before it hit the crank bolts. Though it only looks halfway on, it seems to work fine.
