For a wheel to perform properly, it is important for the rim to be centered between the locknuts of the hub, or "dished." To check this, and to make precision adjustments, a wheel alignment gauge (also called a “dishing tool”) is a must. I was between this and the cheaper dish tool that folds. I ended up with this one and I don't regret it. It's a few dollars more, and I think the folding tool will work just as well, but I didn't want to risk it.

For the price paid, you cant go wrong with this wheel dishing tool. What makes this tool great is that you do not have to remove the tire to properly dish the wheel as you do with some other alignment gauges. Typical Park Tool quality. Great buy! The only complaint I have for this tool, is that the thumb wheel that allows you to slide the "pointer" up and down, is a little difficult to use, and very tight. Park should have given you a better or bigger wheel to make the adjustment.

Never was able to check the dish on my wheels before, or worried about it, my wheels were true. Bought this and found out my wheels were out of dish by about a quater inch! Not any more. Works great, easy to use and built well enough to last several life times. Now my wheels ARE perfect! An absolute must for every wheel builder or for anyone who just wants to maintain their wheels.
