If you are planning on building your own bike or fixing bikes you really need this tool. Especially for high tolerance fitting parts like the seatpost. I wish I had bought this as soon as I started my bike build, instead of towards the end. You'll be more independent, saves trips to your LBS for measurements, and you'll be more precise. I also like that it can read out in multiple units: inches, mm, fractrion.
I only gave it 4 stars because of the prices. But, then again, it is a digital caliper.
