Minion DHR II 27.5" Tire - 3C MaxxGrip, New DH, E-25

The Maxxis Minion DHR II 27.5" (650B) is a gravity-focused rear tire built for riders who prioritize braking control, cornering support, and predictable transitions on steep, technical trails. With side knobs inspired by the Minion DHF and a braking-biased center tread, the DHR II is a go-to choice for trail, enduro, and downhill setups where traction and composure matter more than outright rolling speed.

Why it stands out as a rear tire

1. 3C MaxxGrip compound - Uses Maxxis’ stickiest, slow-rebound rubber for maximum traction and a more damped, planted feel on roots, rock, and hardpack.
2. DHR II braking-edge center tread - Paddle-shaped center knobs dig in under hard braking for better speed control on steeps, with ramped leading edges to reduce drag when accelerating.
3. Supported cornering from widened side knobs - Borrowed Minion-style shoulder layout, widened for added support, helps the tire hold a line when pushing into high-load corners.
4. Siped tread for smoother lean transitions - Knob siping helps the tread conform to trail texture and improves feel as the bike is leaned over.
5. New DH casing durability and compliance - Added puncture protection and a more controlled ride over chatter; progressive casing stiffness is designed to favor grip and tracking, and can allow lower pressures than prior DH casing designs.
6. E-25 e-bike rating - Built to handle the higher loads and torque associated with pedal-assist riding (as used on systems rated up to 25 km/h).

For aggressive trail and gravity builds, the Maxxis Minion DHR II is commonly paired with a Maxxis Minion DHF up front for a balanced front/rear setup with strong cornering bite and confident braking traction.
