The spindle length is determined by the crankset you are using. The size might be listed on the old bottom bracket if you have it, if not I would try to see if someone has the specs for the old crank listed online.

Older Schwinn bikes use an American bottom bracket which is much larger. If you have one with a BSA threaded bottom bracket shell, it should but you'll need to match your spindle length and shell size.
