destry.hillI can't figure out how to take back my previous review. I really like the feel of these grips and so I was determined to do something about them slipping. While looking for a solution, I figured out that I did a poor job installing them. The instructions were very clear about ensuring that I measure up the bar the exact amount and then ensure the end clamps fully engage the end of the handle bar. I thought I did that. But after further troubleshooting my work, I did not ensure that the clamps were fully seated on the handlebar ends. That extra couple of millimeters made all the difference. I tightened to the specified torque and they feel like they are welded on now.

destry.hillI love the shape, material, feel, and flexibility of these grips. However, the bar ends and grips creep and rotate under lots o' load. I will have to modify the mounting to keep the grips from creeping, and I have not figured out yet how I will do that. Like I said, I love the feel of them. On easy rides they do fine. On "hammer down" climbs, I don't grip the bar ends.

amarklinReally like these bar ends! The stock grips with my Trek FX 7.3 were just friction-fit and would slip all around the bar on a lengthy ride. These are secured with a screw and haven't moved since the day I put them on over 1400 miles ago.
They add some 30mm to the length of the flat section of my handlebars which feels more comfortable, and the extended positions let you vary your grip over a long ride and aviod fatigue. They're more shock absorbing than my Bontrager grips, and I find my hands don't get numb nearly as much as before.
Also, if you need to stand up out of the saddle on a hill, the upright section of the bar end lets you get a wide, powerful grip and really hammer it without any loss of control.
Not really a dislike, but I had to move my shift levers inward to accommodate the longer length of these bar ends. No big deal, just be aware of it if you've already got lights, computer, bell, iPod dock, basket, etc. on that crowded handlebar real estate.

A GuestI could never get comfortable on flat bars, until I got a pair of Ergon GC-3's on a friend's recommendation. They fit the palm nicely, and damp vibration well. I had some doubts about the integrated fiberglass bar ends, but they seem plenty strong, and they're as carefully shaped as the main grips.
The problem? I tried to fit these to the early-90's Nitto Bullmoose bars on my commuter. These bars must be a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the contemporary aluminum bars the Ergons are engineered for, because, when positioned correctly, according to the directions, I could not keep them from rotating slowly around the bar. As I found to my chagrin, exceeding Ergon's torque specs by the least bit, in an attempt to lock them down, results in a snapped bolt. This might not be such a big deal, if the snapped bolt were not virtually impossible to extract from its recessed aluminum bore.
I'm back, sadly, to rubber slip-ons.

A GuestGrip feels great-like "holding hands" with the bike. Prevents hands from falling asleep when adjusted properly, just like the manufacturer states. Give it 4 instead of 5 stars because the bar end tends to move under heavy pressure no matter how much it is tightened. One of the best grips available unless you do a lot of steep hills with hard leverage on the bar end.

A GuestThey are excellent in feel and giving you different hand positions. They do rotate on the bar if you are really cranking on them, but for general riding are perfect! I really like them.

jmundtI have these grips on my commuting bike and my pathway bike, I would not recommend for off road riding for safety reasons. For on road riding they work great for long rides as you have 4 riding positions, one of which stretches you out and lowers you a little to cheat the wind. I also found that a Blackburn road bike mirror will fit perfectly to these grips by using a piece of old rubber bike tube and a zip tie. The mirror doesn't interfere with riding at all. Highly recommend these.

mmkgraphxGrips have nice, comfortable, reliable feel when properly installed and are adjustable enough to get the agnles just right. Beautiful hand conforming shape to both grips and bar ends.. Installation can be a bit tricky. They are pretty heavy compared with other grip/bar end combos.

A GuestToo bad these are discontinued - they're great grips and bar ends! After I initially installed them I thought I might get laughed at for their looks - but now I don't care. They are very comfortable, add several new hand positions, and have pretty much eliminated numbness while providing better climbing. I did not use a torque wrench to install, just cranked until they felt tight :) Must have been right because they haven't moved a bit. I am very pleased with them, like them much better than my previous stubby Ergon grips & bar ends. I ride cross country, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, commute, and rail-trails on my C'dale Flash 29'er.
