I am still a bit unsure as to what the colored inserts do exactly. The insert at the handlebar end didn't even make contact with the bar and ended up rattling like mad. Added some thick tape between the insert and the bar contact point and that got rid of the issue. Additionally, they are made out of black plastic with thick colored vinyl (or at least the black ones are). Fortunately the plastic inserts for the steerer tube side made proper contact so there was no issues there. No complaints on the clamping mechanism. Follow directions on inserting 3/4 inch riser handlebars and you wont have any issues with getting them on. Bolts require T25 Torque Wrench which isnt a problem if you installed your own disk brake or have Crank Brothers multi tool. Great clean look... just wish they got rid of the cheap plastic.
