jorgeramirez_007My triathlon bike came with fancy Vittoria Open Corsa racing tires (290 TPI). While quick and grippy during the first 1500 KM, the Vittorias could not withstand long ride after long ride. After a few months I found myself change TONS of flats. VERY annoying, especially while on weekend group rides.
Enter Continental Grand Prix 4000S. They're smooth, grippy and super-PUNCTURE RESISTANT even as the KM get piled on. These tires are a great compromise for training: sufficient performance worthy of your kick-ass bike and reliability during those long rides when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere riding over a patch of gravel.
I'll upgrade to a lighter, faster tire for racing, but the Conti GP 4000S sets a new standard for training.

A GuestGreat tire - durable enough for every day and fast enough for racing

Paul316Is this made of rubber or glue? It sticks so well.

A Guest2000 miles without a puncture in the Denver area is impressive for any tire. They also offer excellent grip and a smooth ride. The GP 4000 is arguably the best training tire out there. This is my second pair.

geeillmanI bought these to replace a set of Michelin Pro Race 2 tires which I put ~2,000 miles on with no flats ever. I would have kept riding them, but the sidewalls were all cracked, but still plenty of tread left on front and rear. Anyway, I put these GP 4000 S tires on and they feel great. They have a nice supple feel to them and traction appears to be a touch better than the Pro Race 2's, but that may be because they're new; not super old with cracked sidewalls. They feel groovy in a good way.

A GuestThese tires have very high grip levels. Noticeable improvement around corners and during braking. However, they ride far rougher than my previous Vittoria Rubinos. I don't know if I would get them again because of this. I'm also a bit disappointed that Continental cut treads in the tire compound, it is entirely unnecessary and looks a bit awkward.

A GuestThe Continental Grand Prix 4000s is bar none the best racing/training clincher that money can buy (in my opinion). I have gone through many sets of these tires over the years, and except for in the event of a catastrophic sidewall cut rendering the tire un-bootable, a person can easily get a couple thousand miles out of these tires before flats become an issue. Up until that point they are virtually flat free, fast rolling, and corner gripping racing machines. Love these tires, can't say enough good things about them, wouldn't ride anything else.

CLINTIRDI love these tires!!! Have used them for years, why switch to something else when you know the Grand Prix 4000 S works so well.

A GuestThousands of miles on these among me and my recreational riding group members without a single flat. They roll fast and comfortably.

tradevintlThe tire works great and gives good traction for my mountain training.

A GuestI've been riding GP 4000 continental tires for a few years and needed some more. I like the new GP 4000 S with the Black Chili Rubber. Tree Fort had the best price with no shipping and I was very pleased the with their service.

A GuestTrained with these and really like the smoothness of these tires. I'll be probably getting another set for my roadbike

A GuestLove the ride, no flats but have now gone thru 3 tires with sidewall failure! Ok, 1 maybe 2 from cuts/rocks butit didn't start on the tread.. 170 lbs, 100 psi.
Don't buy.

A GuestGreat tires for training and racing. I have have always been a Continental tire fan (Grand Prix) but now the 4000s have set the bar that much higher. How can anyone ride anything else.

A GuestHad on previous bike and no flats! More durable than Pro Race 3's.

A GuestSuper sticky on cornering and fast rolling. A good tire.

asagersI love the feel of these tires. My bike came with a set of Vittoria Diamante Pros and had nothing but problems with them flatting constantly. This is my second set of Conntinentals (last set was the GP Attack/Force combo). They just have a different feel/sound to them vs. the Vittorias and are much more durable. Two other guys in our morning group ride with the Grand Prix 4000s as well, but both paid $75/tire retail for them. Couldn't beat the price I paid for them here!

ccovellThese tires run silky smooth and feel awesome. I switched to them from my gatorskins and there's a noticeable improvement (not to mention weight savings). I'd say these are the best all-around tire there is. They're durable enough that I'm very comfortable using them for commuting and long touring but they also perform great for racing.

gg-madoneLove these tires. I'm 145 lbs and ride them at 110psi. fast smooth and take high speed corners well.

A GuestWe ride a vintage Ken Bird tandem in deep southern Utah about twenty miles a day spring, summer and fall and a few winter days. These tires are excellent; the best I have ever used on this bike. Wish I had had these shoes when I took my daughter through Central America on this bike twenty years ago. Great price and instant delivery at Tree Fort.

scott721After years of riding on Michelin ProRace (first the 2 and then the 3) tires and enjoying the smooth and comfy ride, but suffering through more flats than a Kansas highway, I switched. These 4000s tires are the best thing since sliced bread - pretty much bulletproof (last one was 2300 miles on the rear with no flats - a near miracle around here) and very comfortable.
Highly recommended and at this price a slam dunk. Go ride 'em - you won't regret it.

smarshSolid performance tires. Grippy in the turns. Nice and responsive. My last set gave up about 3,000 miles before failing.
Thanks, Tree Fort Bikes, for the great customer service and best prices anywhere.

msteedEasy on, easy off. Good gription. Reasonably puncture resistant, although I have had one flat due to a goat head thorn.

A GuestDecent tire, I got a cut on my first ride but they usually hold up pretty well.

joe...@gm...l.comexcellent tires. been running these for about the past 10K miles. excellent all-rounder that's durable enough for everyday/training and light/fast enough for racing. so far, they've had good puncture protection (and i've seen tests that they were the best among several of similar, top-end tires) and excellent grip in dry and wet. they saw me through about 5K miles from autumn, through an ohio winter, and into spring. came back here to buy some more and loved the excellent, immediate tree fort price match. only gripe is that they only last about 5-6 miles before the profile squaring-off gets to be too much. that's a good amount of miles and could be a lot for some people, but means i need to change them at least once a year. still, i'll do it because they're excellent tires.

greg.ivesThis is my 3rd set over several years, been very happy with wear an puncture resistance.

reviewed by:
ddub23I love these tires. I have trained and raced on these tires and have never had any complaints. They provide great grip in dry and wet. It is not the lightest tire out there but i would definitely sacrifice weight for durability.

dplessasHighly recommend these tires for long life and great durability. Have been using for years!
