When we're asked for a tire that will last and keep people away from flats outside the extreme situation, the Gatorskin is exactly where we point them. We recommend these time and time again because we see customers coming back over and over for them and don''t get complaints when we send Gatorskins out. Easy choice.
Continental has extensive experience with auto tires and they have brought that to the table with the PolyX Breaker moulded into every tire. Polyester is tried and true in cars and they know how to manufacture a weave that is packed tightly enough to keep punctures at bay. And, you get all that puncture protection with no noticeable difference in rolling resistance!
DuraSkin Sidewall Protection The Gatorskin Folding Tire has a highly puncture-resistant casing with Duraskin sidewall protection. So what is DuraSkin? It''s a Polyamide fabric that acts as a reinforcement layer around the full circumference of the tire. We have seen firsthand how well this actually equates to a successful tour, longer commuting tire and just plane long lasting tire.
When you want the leader in durability and protection you''re probably looking to the Continental Gatorskin.

I ride these on dirt roads, gravel roads, caliche roads, even turn rows! Plus our famous loose chip seal West Texas farm roads. They hold up great. And they have a cool little steel belt radials sound to them.Love them! On my third set. Get some and quit worrying about your tires. Easy on and off if you go with the folding bead.
just put these tires on my new wheels, went to Cycle Oregon, 35,000 feet of climbing over 500 miles in 7 days.
Got two flats!
Wife had same wheels, with no flats.
Last year we used the non-folding Gatorskins...I think those are more flat resistant.
