Dirt Road Washtenaw - Biking the Back Roads
Rob Pulcipher introduced this book to us at Triple Trail 2010 and we were stoked that someone had taken such a dedicated look at the history and routes that get you out of the way in Washtenaw County, MI. We know you'll find this book as insightful as we do and that it''ll help you get out exploring! If you live anywhere around the Ypsilanti / Ann Arbor area you will gain from owning this book.
From the author:
Dirt Road Washtenaw is an adventure. It explores over 700 miles of dirt roads in this county. That''s nearly half of all the county''s roads. Most of them are unique, relatively quiet and often beautiful. This book shares 17 routes with detailed maps that cover the entire county and wander through every township.
These are great bike roads. They require modest bike handling skills, covered thoroughly in one of the chapters. There is also a discussion about the history of road development, the effects of glaciation, and preparation for riding, among other things. And there are photos, too. Lots of photos.
Read this book, then take a ride. You''ll realize just what a wonder we have right out our back door.

A GuestThis is an easy to read fun book with lots of info about the dirt roads in Washtenaw Co. Yes, it has lots of rides in it, but also pictures along the routes. The cooler thing is that it goes into the local history of the roads. This will definitely make my rides more interesting this year.
