A GuestBought this to replace the stock aheadset which was in my stumpy. That one lasted 3 years - 3000 miles (?) and only failed because I dented the upper cup somehow.
I don't see the point in spending a ton of money on a headset when even the cheapest one (aheadset) will do just fine.
I got this middle of the road one because the price was only a bit over the entry level one. I am sure it will last me forever as long as I don't dent the cup again...
The only downside: The top cap included with this headset was too small to actually cover my stem (using a spesh stem with that adjustable angle bushing in it). Cane Creek told me just to re-use the one from the stock headset which I did.

anonymousTreefort is awesome to offer their price-match on their products, and it keeps me coming back to their website. The Cane Creek 40 is Cane Creek's "mid-level" offering and it doesn't disappoint. While I had to buy a second crown race for my build after marring the blue rubber seal at the bottom of the headset during installation, I have no regrets. By the way, Cane Creek's 10 Headset Series, their cheaper offerings have a split piece of plastic as a crown race that is extremely easy to install. But it doesn't keep out dirt like the 40 Series with its aluminum rubber seal crown race. I used home-made tools for the build as the cheapest offerings on a crown race setter are expensive--as are the other tools to get the whole headset installed. Especially if you only use it once or twice! If you're following down the same road as I did for a build, check out the many YouTube videos for a while on installing a Headset.
