Will carry a 1.75L handle of Cuervo, can confirm.
There's no useful way to store the excess on the straps. I end up tying them off in strange and inconvenient ways.
Bought for surly ecr and use them on the forks and down tube. Hold a metal bottle firmly with no rattling. Can't ask for more than that. Price was half of the salsa so worth a shot. I put them on a surly ecr so I was never too concerned about weight anyway.
I used these on my Cannondale Trail on the suspension fork and Down tube mounted with salvaged old tube pieces around the frame and forks and pipe clamps. Downtube was for water in a 2L side bottle or in yeti like jug and the firks had dry bags with hiking quilt, clothes, etc. I quit using the straps after rest runs and switched to Velcro straps. They held strong for nearly 40 miles of the rough, rooted and rocky Ozark Trail without any issue.
