The narrowest rims we have heard of people running Larry 3.8's on are 48mm wide and they complain about loss of stability. The Large Marge rims are 65mm wide and Surly's official stance is that you should not use rims narrower than that. The Standard Issue Pimplite rim on this wheel is 28mm wide. Because the Pimplite rim is so narrow, it will not work with a 3.8 snow tire.
