asked by: a guest Will this work with the Race Face Aeffect crank?
A.
anwered by: canteau The Absolute Black Cinch compatible chainring will work with Cinch compatible versions of the Aeffect crank. Older Aeffect cranks use a fixed spider and would not be compatible.

I bought this after reading several reviews suggesting that it would help with traction and or climbing. At first it felt weird, but after a few hour in the saddle it felt normal. If the there is a traction improvement it is mild. My perception is that on long climbs it does feel better. I went back to a round chain ring after several days and hated the feeling of the round ring on long climbs. Finally, it seems to me that i have less lower back pain after long rides with 2000-4000 feet of elevation. I am completely prepared to believe that the perceptions are purely psychological. However, half of challenging riding is psychological. So, if using this ring is "psyching" me into doing better, then GREAT.
I needed a larger single chain ring for my fat bike - summer riding - so I decided to try an AB oval 34 with my 11 speed drive train on my Borealis Crestone. I run a 202mm Q-factor Next SL crank (frame has 197 rear spacing) so I need to run the ring "flipped" to clear the chain stay and improve chain line. AB rings can be "flipped" and run perfectly as long as the ring is oriented correctly. Immediately my pedal stroke felt more "round" than with a traditional ring. I have about a hundred miles on the ring and will never use a round ring again for my single-ring bikes. The AB oval rings are great!!
