A GuestThe PM215 is a hi end pedal at a low end price. It has very smooth bearings, weigh under 300 grams/pr, and has a beautiful forged body with a green topcoat. I tested it with a Ritchey SPD cleat and needed 4 clicks from minimum tension to get just a soft, usable tension. Thus any SPD cleat should be able to get a satisfactory minimum tension or get a race tight tension if you go all the way up. The pedal comes with a generic cleat that should be OK but if you already have Ritchey, 98A's, or SHimano cleats already on your bike shoes then they may be slightly different so check the interchangeability if you have other shoes or another bike. My guess is that Shimano cleats will have a lower tension than the Exustar generic cleats so be careful that the new cleats may be tighter on another pedal system. Never assume the cleats are all the same. There may be differences in float and in multi-angle release. The Ritchey, 98A, and SHimano SH-56 I know are good for multi angle release. I know the Shimano SH-51 cleat is not good at multi angle release, so are unsafe. The Exustar PM215 has a wonderfully smooth action but some may want the slightly more definitive click out like the Shimano has but I would take these over the heavier, poor value, and hideously ugly Shimano pedals, even an XTR.
