Scooter6977On my winter/snow bike I had some Bontrager tires that worked well on/off trails. I recently rode on a pathway where there was some ice patches, and I was glad I was wearing my skid lid nuff said. So after the gravity lesson I decided to get some studded tires. I checked the various manufactures and prices. For me more studs the better, I purchased the Nokian 294's I went out on a lake that has untouched snow, snow that was packed (snowmobilers etc..) as well as exposed ice. With this knob pattern I could easily pedal through the snow and on ice these stick. As of yet I don't have any real pavement time with these, but with studs it's not about speed as it is with safety.

A GuestI've run these tires for the last 4 winters mostly on roads. They work excellent in all conditions including ice, black ice, packed snow, and rutted ice. About 80 percent of the time I'm riding on bare pavement and the other 20 percent I'm on some form of ice. Problem is I ride pre-dawn so I don't know where the ice will be on the roads so I run these tires all the time. They have saved my skin many many times. I get about 2,500 miles of use from each tire mostly because the carbide studs are very, very durable.

cra...@ya...o.comRode a dozen or so miles of snowmobile trails last weekend; they won't make you invincible, but they do have a good amount of bite and traction in packed snow and icy conditions, just requires a bit more effort to pedal on the pavement.

A Guestmy ride is 20 miles per day 50% ice/city ride, The tires are incredible, a bit heavy but they have incredible traction.
Mind a little vibration in the asphalt but when having contact with ice or snow you will feel completely safe.

A GuestThese are great. I made my own snow chains first, but those made too much rolling resistance. These tires roll smooth and grip well. I have ridden multiple hundreds of miles so far in varying depths of snow and ice confidently thanks to these tires. If you want to get off your butt and go outside and do something in the less than great conditions, do yourself a favor and get a set of these.

wswierczThese tires are great! The only problem is we had almost no snow or ice this winter so I didn't have many chances to fully test them.

A GuestRiding on unpaved rail trails that have snow covered ice. They work great.

A GuestThese tires are nothing short of amazing! I do most of my riding on rural, unpaved roads in southern Michigan. On a single ride I can encounter hard gravel, mud, water, ice, water over ice, snow, etc. After multiple spills with non-studded tires, I now ride with impunity, and have to avoid over-confidence. The studded sidewalls allow the bike to climb in and out of frozen ruts easily, and across ice that is sloped from the edge of the road to the middle. Definitely worth the money.

Dav...@gm...l.comThese are great ice tires. I feel more confident in corners on my late night commutes home from work. They really clinch into the ice. At first, I did not think they were a great improvement over trail tires, until I began riding them with the confidence they deserve. Snow is still snow. Its a tough go. My trail rides have been great though. I fly across pack ice, and trudge proudly through the snow. I did however get a flat. My first in 3 years and 10000 miles. Maybe I was past due! But the super soft rubber is subject to the detritus plowed into the bike lanes and road sides of Ann Arbor. I would recommend these indeed. However if you are strictly commuting and not on trail you can prolly save some money and get the next step down with a better rolling tread. Peace.
