questions about the

Sugino Single Speed Road 48t 3/32" 130mm alloy (RD2)

asked by: andrewv2
Seems like this question is getting redundant, but 109mm spindle? 68mmx109 sugino bb?
answered by: canteau
If you are going to use a Sugino JIS bottom bracket with a 109mm spindle as a mm one way or the other on a geared bike really shouldn't be that big of an issue.

The only Sugino 109mm bottom bracket we currently carry is the 75 track bottom bracket which has an ISO taper and will not give you the same chainline as the required JIS taper and will create a shorter chainline closer to using around a 105mm JIS bottom bracket.
asked by: crewdoglm
Can you confirm these have the inside shoulder for a second chainring?
answered by: canteau
The Sugino RD2 cranks can be used for both single and double use.

Can I fit a 40T or 38T chainring on this crank?
answered by: t.young
Other 130mm BCD chainrings could work, yes.
asked by: A Visitor
Will this work on my felt breed it has 130mm
answered by: t.young
It should probably work on that bike, I've not ran across a Breed so I can't say for certain.

What is the difference between this Sugino crank and the Sugino RD2 Messenger Crank
answered by: mlewis
This is the RD2 crankset.
asked by: A Visitor
Could I put this crankset on my vilano fixed geared bike without changing the bb?
answered by: mlewis
Vilano has very little info on what components are used on their bikes, so we can't be sure without more information. If it is a square tapered BB though, then most likely this would work fine.
asked by: A Visitor
crank bolts included?
answered by: mwirth
Yes, crank bolts are included. Thanks!
asked by: A Visitor
Is the correct BB for this crankset 68 x 103?
answered by: canteau
This crank will work with both 103 and 110mm bottom brackets depending on what the chain line requirements are for your frame.
asked by: A Visitor
Does this crank have a unique backspacing. My frame is built for 107mm.
answered by: canteau
This crank will work with both 103 and 110mm bottom brackets depending on what the chain line requirements are for your frame. It may work with a 107 but you would want to use a chainline gauge to insure proper alignment.
asked by: A Visitor
which bb spindle length for a shimano internal hub?
answered by: awilson
The chain lines are different depending on which internal hub you're talking about. The Sugino RD crank gives a 44-45mm chainline with a 103mm bottom bracket.
asked by: A Visitor
Eventhough Sugino recommends using their BB's is it absolutely necessary if specs matc
answered by: bhardy
As long as the BB is JIS taper, it should work fine.

Review of the Sugino Single Speed Road 48t 3/32" 130mm alloy (RD2):
I was about to retire an old Surly Crosscheck I had parted out building a new touring bike. Then I decided to put a little cash back in and build a single speed "baguette getter" with this crank. Now that ol' Surly is my favorite bike!

With a 9-speed chain and cog, it's super quiet. I guess no pins or ramps helps. Love it!

My only complaint is that Sugino didn't offer a few other teeth count choices.

Summed up: Solid, practical, durable and stylish crank

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.
