This 9-speed chain will work with SRAM and Shimano cassettes. Like SRAM, it has a masterlink-style connector called a MissingLink by KMC. The claimed manufacturer's weight is 265 grams. A gold-colored titanium nitride coating is used to harden and protect the chain.

Review of the KMC X9 SL Gold 9 Speed:
I abuse SRAM and Shimano chains on two different bikes one FS Epic and a GF Hardtail 29er...Up until this chain I would break 3-4 chains per year. This chain has lasted me all season through my normal Clydesdale shifting abuse and mashing style. The Gold bling is a bonus!!!

Review of the KMC X9 SL Gold 9 Speed:
I bought this for my 2010 Scott Genius that had a beat up shimano on it. This KMC chain shifts QUICK and SMOOTH. Maybe because the interior of the side plates are beveled and the Ti makes everything slick. A great combo and rust free. Ill be buying another one when this one wears.

I really like this chain so far, it shifts really smooth. I have only rode about 50 hard miles so far on my geared bike. I also have this chain on my singlespeed which has been on there for a little over a year. It is strong and has held up to a lot of abuse.
