Park CT-3 Chain Tool

all about the

Park CT-3 Chain Tool

Chain repair doesn't need to be difficult, but because of the tremendous force needed to remove chain pins light weight or compact chain tools can flex making it more difficult to remove the pin. The Park CT-3 is made from an investment cast steel body with a replaceable pin for years of use.
  • The "loosing shelf" help free stiff links after chain service
  • For use with 5-10 speed chains, for 11 speed chains use the Park CT-4.2
  • For single speed chains use the Park CT-7 single speed chain tool.
questions about the

Park CT-3 Chain Tool

asked by: A Visitor
Does this tool work with Dura Ace asymmetric 7900 chain ?
answered by: mwirth
The CT-3 will work with the new Dura Ace 7900 chain.

When changing a chain, how do you know what length to make the chain.
answered by: smulder
Changing a chain is much easier than adding a chain to a brand new set-up. You simply lay both the old chain and new chain on the ground and as you are making sure to slide the new one forward to align each chain pin with the old one just break the chain where the old one was broken. In the case where you are going to be using a quick link, just remove one extra outside link.

Review of the Park CT-3 Chain Tool:
This is a nice, solid feeling chain tool; my previous tool was the little mini CT-5, which works well enough but feels tiny. This one has a bit more meat to it. Plus, the replaceable pins are nice.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Review of the Park CT-3 Chain Tool:
As others noted, the CT-3 is a very solid tool that just works. It's smooth, precise, and can pop the small "muffin top" off the pins on SRAM's PC-850 chain without even noticing, unlike the tiny tool I carry for emergencies. Since I have to splice on six extra links every time I change the chain, I appreciate any tool that makes the process easy.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Review of the Park CT-3 Chain Tool:
I was just using the chain breaker on my multi-tool for the longest time. Then I jacked it up working on a bike build and decided to cough up the dough for a serious chain breaker. I was sooo happy I did. The tool was much easier to handle and made the job much quicker and less messy. The replaceable pins are a saint. The first chain I tried it on was particularly tough and I needed a pin right away. Other than that chain I haven't had any pin problems.

Summed up: Buy it. It is an amazing tool to have in your shop.

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

Best chain tool for the money period. If you're a sloppy mechanic like me, go ahead and buy the replacement pins.
