I have used this many times in the past to fix finicky rear derailleurs. I almost always use a teflon inner cable along with this to get the best possible shifting. The issue I was having in the past was that the Shimano Low Normal Derailleurs were not liking normal Derailleur Cable Housing and weren't making it all the way into gear after a few days in the grit and grime. The SRAM Flak Jacket helped fix this issue almost every time.
