Smokestack LightningI only had a couple of days to ride these tires (surgery to my hands) but they are very grippy and fast on asphalt. And for anyone who has read reviews stating your rear tire gets squirrley during wet cornering, it's a complete misnomer (Rider error, not the tires-oversteering during cornering). No tire is perfect, but these tires will address the needs of any rugged, urban commuter.

A GuestHalo Twin Rails are quite possibly the most "streetable" mountain bike tire available and still capable of some offroad riding.
Very nice sidewalk riders. There is construction all over Lakeland, FL where I ride. I have a 29er MTB that I use as sort of an urban bike that sees trails sometimes. My favorite is when I'm haulin arse down a side walk approaching an onlooker out for a walk. They start looking nervous as I approach and then shocked when they see me fly off the side walk across a ten foot section of grass across a paved street and then up or down a grassy or even dirt hill.
I have tried them on some MTB trails at Carter Road Park / Loyce Harpe Park here in Lakeland where there are some fairly intense mountain bike trails. They are fine for easy trails coded yellow or even some of the medium trails labeled with blue. The advanced trails coded red for danger I assume are not something I will try on these tires or even my bike for that matter. I ride a Giant Talon 2 29er from 2011.
I am about to upgrade to a 2012 bike. Possibly a Haro Flightline Comp 29er. This time around I am considering WTB Vulpine's because they appear to have more knobs to the side. I am hoping they will be better on trails.
I do recommend the Halo Twin Rails because they look really cool with the red and white letters on the sidewalls. The Halo logo looks good too. They are excellent for the street on a mountain bike and will handle some offroading but they certainly are not Maxxis Cross Marks, but then Maxxis Crossmarks have the worst rolling resistance on the street imaginable.

A GuestNot really the reviewer, but these tires are getting the job done. Great tires for a great price, I am really pleased with my new tread. For paved trails road, all around so far, no problems what so ever.

A GuestI've been riding on Halo Twin Rails for several months. For those who spend hours at a time on their 29ers and either ride asphalt to and from gravel and light technical trails or constantly shift between trail and road on your expeditions, these tires are # 1 bar none.
I've had no problem ambling over rock garden sections either. The psi range on these tires is 35-65. I've found 45 psi works perfect for both road/trail combos. You can get into even looser, more technical trail if you drop psi to @ 35-39 once in the dirt.
