These chainring spacers are PERFECT for increasing the length of a chainring nut. The nut the part the bolt screws into. The bolt has a hex or torx head, usually, and the bolt needs that goofy tool that you probably don't have. But OMG, if you need to make that bolt longer, but don't want to be bothered with having more threads to screw that bolt into, and just so happen to have long enough bolts lying around to compensate for this length difference, these spacers are a no-brainer! If you want spacers that go around the nut, these are not the right size.

I bought these as spares/replacements for some "early" Stronglight model 49D cranksets (the ones with solid hex-head chainring bolts) and also for any older Specialites TA 6-arm cranksets (e.g. Cyclotourist pattern)... either double or triple. The inner diameter of these spacers is 8mm and the outer diameter is 12mm. So these work PERFECT for my intended use.
