A GuestGreat innovative product. Difficult to install the first time and get tire walls seated whatever anyone tells you. I think you are counting on the preventive sealant saving you in the event of pucture. Manhandling while out on the road would be no fun. People choose to carry an inner tube - then this means removing the valve.... Time will tell - if they are headache free for a 1000 miles or so I'll be very happy.

gre...@ho...l.comGreat tires! They are fast, worry free and comfortable. I ride them between 85 and 100 PSI. (recovery, training and race) They are mounted on 23mm wide rims, which makes them feel as if you are on tubulars.
Here are some critical details. Follow the Stan's instructions for the most part. That means using your tube to get the rim tape set perfect. It sucks fighting to get the tire on twice, but ultimately worth it. If you don't have a compressor, forget trying. I felt the soaping was a waste of time once I figured out this trick. Remove the stem valve and take a air compressor blow gun with a narrow tip and seat the tires without Stan's seal. Then let the air out, add Stan's and add air. Don't let all the air out by placing your finger over the stem Quickly insert the valve, you should be able to maintain about 20-30 psi. Use a presta adapter or hand pump to finish. Ride them right away and you are set.

BarryPattersonI've been using the Hutchinson Fusion for two seasons now. I had the Fusion 2 prior to the 3 and I got over 2500 miles on that set. The 3 seems to be a bit more durable, but time will tell. I'm mounting them to Fulcrum Racing 3 two-way fit wheels (also excellent) and the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the difficulty in mounting them. Once they're on, they stretch a little and are easier to deal with. I would highly recommend wearing some leather gloves when rolling the last bit of the bead onto the rim to prevent blisters. It is recommended that you use a soap/water mixture to assist in 'sliding' the tire onto the rim, but that didn't seem to help too much.

A GuestWorks for me! Less vibration on road than using the balloons (tubes) that are never dependable as the tire wears. Thus with these tubeless i won't have to worry until the tire itself is worn out. Thus saving alot of money on tubes that get pinchflats even by mounting or the patch leaks. Also holds psi longer and can take lower or higher pressure depending upon road conditons. I'll never go back to tubes but will carry a tube for the balloon riders. Not any harder than some tough clinchers to mount on rims but the proper technique makes get on and off easy for me now. Better make sure you tape the spoke holes by streching the tape on so its super tight and using a air compressor at the bike shop when pumping for first time after adding stans liquid.

A GuestRunning on the Ultegra Tubeless wheelset. Overall a great tire for racing on, they really stick well. Like many others my biggest complaint has been the installation...each time I have had to use multiple tire tools to seat the last bit in place. Out of approx 2 sets and 6K miles I have only had one flat and it was a nasty slice on the rolling surface of the tire. I was able to take that in get a heavy patch sealed on and no problems since.

A GuestThese Fusion 3 tubeless tires replaced Hutchinson Atom tubeless. I have nothing good to say about the atoms but the Fusion 3 are actually quite nice.
I have them installed on my DuraAce, scandium wheels. The ride is very smooth and plush. Yesterday I experienced one of the benefits of a tubeless tire tire riding in a close pace line, I "center punched" a fairly substantial rock with my front wheel.
This was precisely the sort of thing that often results in a pinch flat with a conventional tire and tube. I remember thinking at the time, "uh oh", but I kept on rolling with no problem whatsoever.
On the downside you will see it suggested that you should not use tools when mounting a tubeless tire. I still have sore thumbs from the monumental effort required to try and mount these tires that are apparently smaller in circumference than others. Even with tools it was difficult. Perhaps it was this way because tubeless needs to "suck to the rim" more tightly in order to hold pressure but it was a booger bear. (Well worthwhile once mounted however)

drudixonThese tires are as great as over 5400 miles of riding...but as bad as 50 miles of riding. Perhaps 100 degree century rides were tough on them? Slime eliminates the metal fiber punctures from auto/truck steel belts and I can "boot" a very small hole with a conventional patch. Unfortunately a side wall rock hole of 3mm and the tire is reliable for only an inner tube. I will still keep purchasing, though I am suspicious there is inconsistant quality of product from the manufacturing plant.

A GuestBeen riding the Hutchinson tubeless tires for 2 1/2 years. Love 'em. I like to ride at about 80 to 90 lbs of pressure, as I've got a mile of rough dirt road climbing from my home before I reach pavement. I haven't ever had to repair them out on the road. Even decent size holes in tread or sidewall seal themselves. Rode 45 miles home once after a leak dropped the pressure to about 50. This is the future- embrace it.

A GuestThis is a great tire. Tubeless is the way to go. Never have a pinch flat again (up to 95% of all flats) and very easy to repair punctures (don't even have to remove the wheel.
Rides every bit as well as a great race tire. People can't tell the difference (unless they know).
Not sure why people want to mess with tubes or (horror) tubulars. The latter are great if you have your own support crew and you get paid to ride them.

A GuestI have been using these tubeless tires for 2 years now and I am a believer. They are very durable and give a very smooth ride. My complaint is the inconsistency of these tires. Some are easier then others to mount. Some hold air without any sealant added. When sealant is needed it simply works. Great tires!

A GuestNice riding tire. Installation is tough though so I use the Stan's no-tube sealant to avoid leaks. The combination has worked very well for me. Be forewarned, you can pinch flat these tires. I found out when I was coming down a hill about 40 kmh and the back tire hit a rock about 10 cm in diameter. It was an extra cold morning, so perhaps my tire pressure was down. Anyway, adding a tube to the now flat tire was difficult and compounded by the goopy sealant left in the tire.

tom...@pa...l.netLike everyone says these tires are a bear to get on tubeless rims the first time (with practice down to 20-30 minutes) but they are well worth it. No flats in almost 6000 miles and although I did wear out the rear tire the front tire just keeps on rolling along. I've also mounted these tires on my old Mavic Open Pro rims. Easier to mount and using the Stans sealant they hold air great. I'm completely sold, tubeless is the only way to go.

ricomundyI've had much more success with the Hutchinson Intensive durability, but there was a good price on this so I got it. Mounted on rear. It's tough to install, but I was expecting it. Only 200 miles riding and I got a slit way high up on the sidewall and the sealant CaffeLatex would not seal it. Don't know how I got a slit so high on the sidewall or if it was a defect. Had to ride a tube home. I did patch it and will keep using it. Very disappointed. And buying tubeless tires is so expensive unfortunately. If I get an inexpensive tire and even have just two flats in 2000 miles I will spend less than half the money. Wish someone would produce inexpensive tubeless.

pksteffenLove my Hutchinson Fusion 3. Been riding them on my Ultegra Tubeless wheel set for 1000 miles so far. They are smooth since they run at least 20 psi lower than tubes. I would not like to go back to tubes because of the ride quality. They have been very durable even here in the desert. They descend Mt. Lemmon very well comfortably holding a line on corners at 40 mph. Installation was not a problem since I had my LBS install them.
