The Continental Grand Prix uses the same Black Chili rubber that the more expensive Grand Prix 4000 uses and is made in the same German factory.
What the Grand Prix gives up for the lower price is a thicker nylon casing which reduces the thread count from 330 to 180 so the tire is going to give up a little in the corners. Flat protection also moves from the lighter Vectran belt to PolyX which adds about 25g to the tire.
The Grand Prix is the perfect tire for the weekend warrior or club racer that wants performance and to balance the budget at the same.
- Uses Black Chili Compound for greater grip, durability and reduced rolling resistance
- PolyX breaker, a woven polyester layer that is highly resistant to punctures without reducing rolling resistance
