Whether on an all-mountain epic or urban assault mission, the Variant''s got the goods to get ?r done. And in ''09 it gets done even better with the addition of the super adjustable Twin Axis Gear (TAG) fit system?ot to mention its VPV visor, Fusion In-Mold Microshell construction and trail tuned ventilation.

I have used the Bell Variant for 2 seasons now and have been very happy with the fit and function of the helmet.
The Bell Variant fits into the "All Mountain" category of helmets so it sits a little lower on the head.
My head is more round shaped that oval so the Bell helmets in general seem to fit me better than either the Giro or Lazer helmets.
The "All Mountain" helmets including this one do have smaller vents than those found on XC or Road models. I haven't found it to be an issue in the summer, but it could be for some people.
The Variant features Bell's roller wheel adjustment system which makes for a quick fit.
Summed up: A great helmet with hardcore styling and a great fit.
Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.

I've bought 1 a year for the last 3 years. Use it for the BMX, MTB and road bike as well as snow boarding. Commutes to Epics. In summer it cinches down on my melon, in winter it adjusts enough to fit over a wool beanie. Really a great versatile helmet.
