all about the

SRAM 2013 Red Exogram GXP 39-53 Crankset

SRAM set the bar for road shifting performance when they introduced the RED group a few years back. This new drivetrain group quickly made it's way on to not only Pro-Tour bikes but also on the bikes of riders who desire the highest performance possible.

For the new RED cranks SRAM used the design and engineering philosiphy from Zipp and merged it with the efficient manufactuing techniques and chainring design that SRAM is know for. While the crank is more substanial in appearance it doesn't show it on the scale because it is hollow, even up through the spider. The larger hollow arms are not only lighter but stiffer and more aerodynamic also.

The spider on the 2013 RED Cranks uses a 4-arm design with the 5th arm integrated into the crank arm itself to make best use of the least amount of material as possible.

The '13 SRAM RED Group's new YAW front derailleur design has been engineered to work with this crankset and the new X-Glide R chainrings which are thicker than previous RED chainrings to reduce flex while shifting under load, perfect for attacking the finishline from the middle of the pack.
  • Exogram technology uses a large, hollow cross section all the way to the spider, minimizing weight while maximizing stiffness. SRAM's stiffest crank produced to date.
  • Hidden bolt pattern leverages the characteristics of carbon fiber while presenting a sleek appearance
  • Stiffer X Glide R chainrings feature thicker construction, advanced shift timing pins and ramps, which are optimized for shifting with the 2013 RED YAW Front Derailleur
  • Bottom Bracket not included
The 2013 SRAM RED Crankset has been designed to be used with the 2013 RED YAW Front Derailleur and DoubleTap Controls. It is not designed work with previous generation SRAM or Shimano drivetrains, do so could result in poor shifting or damage to the chainrings.

Review of the SRAM 2013 Red Exogram GXP 39-53 Crankset:
I put this on my 2011 Cervelo R3 to replace the SRAM s900 compact it came with. Also installed the new SRAM red yaw derailer at the same time. The new combo shifts waaaaaay better than the 2011 Red grouppo on my Tarmac. I will be switching to this crank and the new derailleur on my Tarmac ASAP!

Yes, I would recomend this to a friend.
