snideI've been running Shimano brakes for years. I love the idea of Mineral Oil for fluid instead of brake fluid. I'm surprised at the power these brakes deliver. One finger stoppies with 160mm rotor. The shorty levers have a great feel, and overall construction is typical high quiality Shimano. Besides the Saints on my DH bike these are the most powerful XC / AM brakes I've every used. At $140 per side a great value.

nate250awesome brakes! tried other brands. dont even come close to the modulation and power i paired them with the 203mm front and the 180 rear xt ice techs on my bandit 29 couldnt ask for a better brake combo amazing is all i can say never have to worry about my brakes no matter the trail.

lamunyanThe system was easy to install following instructions and having the correct tools. One brake set comes with a bleeding spacer and the hose block that is needed to hold the hose while inserting a new insert and olive. Along with the insert and olive for cutting and resizing the hose there are mounting bolts included in the set.
Compared to my old brakes I have more than 25% increase stopping power, the 2 finger pull is nice. Positioning the levers was easy and with the tool-free reach/free-stroke adjustable of the lever blades allows you to adjust them for a comfortable fit. I have had no squealing on long descents and no or little modulation.

gm3323These are without a doubt the best disc brakes I've ever owned. I was hesitant to switch to hydraulic disc brakes because of the messy fluid and and reviews of other brands that required constant bleeding. Finally said goodbye to my Avid BB7's and I'm so glad I did. These brakes have loads of power, great modulation, look great and above all else, they don't make that horrible squealing / turkey gobbling sound ! My only complaint is that I've had two front sets that developed leaks at the banjo crimp of the hose after only 60 or 70 miles of XC riding . Tree Fort took care of the warranty flawlessly ( Thanks Theo ) and my Niner MCR is now back on the trail.

snow4aaronI have about 150 miles on these brakes and I they are great.I have used them on rides several hours long and on extended downhills. I have only used Juicy 3s and Elixir 5s previously. I prefer the modulation feel of the M785s, it feels smoother but not soft and more a consistent feel. I thought the Elixir 5s were an improvement from the Juicy 3s. The Elixirs felt strong but the range of use between enough and too much is smaller.
I did not bleed them after trimming the hoses.
