Bryton
Rider 50 GPS Bike Computer
Bryton Rider 50 is a GPS cycling computer designed for cyclists of all levels. Bryton brings the performance of the Garmin Edge 705 to a more affordable price.
The Rider 50 is physically smaller that the 705 but shares the same size screen. The claimed battery life is also the same at about 15 hours and like the Edge 705 the unit uses 2 main buttons plus a joystick to navigate through the screens.
The major difference in the Rider 50 and the Edge 705 is going to be in the software. The Garmin Edge 705 uses Garmin's proprietary software with the maps being based on Navtech which is the basis for many of the commercial GPS units. The Rider 50 uses OpenStreetMap which is an open source map system, that is continuously being updated based on user input. If you live in populous areas the OpenStreetMap software can provide way more data than the Navtech software but in more rural areas you may find the points of interest lacking. Data is stored on either 2GB of internal storage or on a removable micro SD data card.
